Meet MJ

🌾 Humble Roots in the Philippines

MJ Cristenor was born on a farm in the southern Philippines surrounded by rice fields, coconut trees, and banana groves. Even as a young girl, her entrepreneurial spirit was evident—scaling coconut trees and riding oxen to gather guavas, which she sold at the local market. By age 8, MJ was already selling produce to fund her own school supplies, impressing locals with her drive and ingenuity.

📚 Big Dreams & Bigger Sacrifices

MJ dreamed not just of completing her education, but of building a better life—and one day moving to Canada. She pursued a degree in teaching with a major in Food Trades, juggling multiple jobs to support herself through school. At 23, she married and started a family, but financial hardships meant tough choices between food and rent. Determined to give her children better opportunities, she made the heart-wrenching decision to leave home and work abroad in Hong Kong and Taiwan.

💪 Building a New Life in Canada

MJ’s path in Canada was anything but easy. After her initial caregiving contract ended, she moved to Saskatoon and worked up to three jobs at a time—at Extendicare, Tim Hortons, and in hotel cleaning. She sent money home, bought her first car, taught herself to drive, and put her children through university. Every step was fueled by her unwavering dedication and sacrifice.

🏥 Setbacks, Healing, and a New Purpose

In 2015, a major health issue forced MJ to take time off and return to the Philippines to recover. Upon her return to Canada, she resumed work in healthcare. In 2019, another injury from years of physical strain pushed her to rethink her path. She began studying massage therapy and found unexpected healing—emotionally and physically. This transformative experience sparked a new passion: helping others heal.

🌿 From Healing Hands to Entrepreneurial Heart

Though financial limitations prevented her from completing her full RMT training, MJ didn’t stop there. She pursued alternative therapies—Raynor Massage, Cupping, Hot Stone Therapy, and more. She launched a home-based business, which evolved into MJC Healing Touch and Waxing Spa, and ultimately became MJC Massage & Spa on Airport Drive in Saskatoon.

💼 A Dream Realized

In 2024, MJ met entrepreneur Clark C., who helped formalize the business structure and bring her dream to life. On April 1, 2025, MJC Massage & Spa officially opened with a team of five, including fully licensed and soon-to-be licensed RMTs, and a specialist in nails and skincare.

Today, MJ feels deeply blessed to lead a team and offer a healing sanctuary to her clients. MJC Massage & Spa is more than a business—it’s the embodiment of a lifetime of perseverance, vision, and compassion. MJ is excited to continue her journey, helping people heal and de-stress, one client at a time.
